How to add an AI receptionist to your website in 5 minutes (no code)

You don't need a developer. You don't need a phone system. You paste one line of code into your site, and visitors can talk to an AI that knows your business, qualifies leads, and books appointments. Here's exactly how.

The 30-second version

Three steps. That's it.

  1. Sign up at webcallhub.com/signup (30 seconds, no credit card)
  2. Paste one script tag into your website's footer
  3. Customize the voice with your business hours, services, and FAQ

Your site now has a voice-powered AI receptionist that answers visitor calls in under 800 milliseconds. The rest of this post walks through each step in detail, with instructions for every major website platform.

Step 1: Create your account

Go to webcallhub.com/signup. Enter your email and company name. That's the entire form. No credit card required, no sales call, no 14-day trial that auto-converts.

Once you're in, you'll see your dashboard with a widget code snippet already generated for your site. It looks like this:

<script src="https://webcallhub.com/embed/widget.js" data-site-id="YOUR_SITE_ID"></script>

Copy that snippet. You'll paste it into your website in the next step.

Step 2: Add the widget to your site

You need to paste that one line of JavaScript somewhere before the closing </body> tag on your website. Here's how to do it on every major platform:

WordPress

Go to Appearance → Customize → Additional CSS/JS in your WordPress admin panel and paste the snippet there. Alternatively, use a plugin like Insert Headers and Footers (by WPCode) to add it to your site footer. If you're using a page builder like Elementor or Divi, you can also drop an HTML block into your footer template. Hit Publish.

Shopify

Go to Online Store → Themes → Edit Code. Open the theme.liquid file. Scroll to the bottom and paste the snippet just before </body>. Save.

Webflow

Go to Project Settings → Custom Code. Paste the snippet in the "Footer Code" section. Publish your site.

Squarespace

Go to Settings → Advanced → Code Injection. Paste the snippet in the Footer field. Save.

Any HTML site

Open your HTML file, find the </body> tag, and paste the snippet on the line above it. Upload. Done.

On every platform, the result is the same: a small call button appears in the bottom-right corner of your site. When a visitor clicks it, they're connected to your AI receptionist via browser audio. No phone number, no app download, no friction.

Step 3: Customize your AI

Back in your dashboard, you have three things to configure. All of them are plain-language settings, not code.

This entire step takes about 3 minutes. You can refine it over time as you see which questions callers actually ask. The dashboard shows you transcripts and analytics for every conversation.

What happens when someone calls

Here's the flow from the visitor's perspective:

  1. Visitor clicks the widget on your website. Browser asks for microphone permission (one-time prompt).
  2. Audio connects in under 800ms. The AI greets them by name if they've called before, or with a warm default greeting. No hold music. No phone tree.
  3. The AI qualifies the caller. It asks what they need, checks if you offer it, answers questions from your FAQ, and gauges urgency.
  4. Resolution: The AI either books an appointment using your calendar link, answers their question directly, or transfers to a human agent if the issue is complex. If no human is available, it takes a detailed message and emails you the transcript.

Every call is logged in your dashboard with a full transcript, caller sentiment, and outcome tag (booked, answered, transferred, messaged). You can review calls in 30 seconds by scanning the transcript instead of listening to a recording.

Pricing

The service starts at $49/month for 100 AI conversations. There are no per-minute charges, no overage fees that surprise you at the end of the month, and no annual contract. You pay for conversations, not minutes, which means a 30-second FAQ answer costs the same as a 5-minute qualification call.

There's a free tier for testing: 30 AI minutes per month, enough to validate the concept on a single high-traffic page before committing. See the full breakdown on our pricing page.
